Work Halal…dot com!

Finding a job isn’t always easy. It can be even harder when you are a Muslim.
Oftentimes we face the question, should we let go of some of our practices to survive or stand firm?

It’s not an easy decision to make.

Insha Allah this will change. I got an email from a sister telling me about WorkHalal.com. Subhana Allah, this happened when I am right in the midst of looking for a job!

Work Halal is non-profit and is designed so that Muslims can easily give other Muslims their business.
You can post jobs and look for jobs. Their links section is especially beneficial with some rare and valuable links regarding Visa Sponsorship (that is how we got here!) and How to work from home (which is a great, but rarely considered, option for sisters) ! 🙂

Subhana Allah, they even have a section of hadith that pertain to all business transactions. This hadith really caught my eye because it shows the importance of feedback for improvement so we can maintain a high standard of excellence in all things. Subhana Allah, our religion implores us to be the best we can be!

Volume 3, Book 34, Number 293:

Narrated Hakim bin Hizam:

Allah’s Apostle said, “The seller and the buyer have the right to keep or return goods as long as they have not parted or till they part; and if both the parties spoke the truth and described the defects and qualities (of the goods), then they would be blessed in their transaction, and if they told lies or hid something, then the blessings of their transaction would be lost.”

Work Halal is really beneficial for Muslims because spending on the Ummah will keep us financially stronger as opposed to purchasing from non-Muslim groups. In other words, when some of us get rich–all of us benefit financially and we can pool our resources to achieve projects such as building shelters and soup kitchens for Muslims and others. It may seem small but there is a lot of wealth in Muslim communities and this will only enrich us more, Insha Allah.

We have to remember that most businesses out there that cater to the Muslim community are small and need help at times. There are no major corporations dedicated solely to serving Muslims. So it is up to us to purchase from and support in any way we can–and working for these Muslim businesses is a great way of helping them.

May Allah bless this endeavor and make it succeed, Ameen.

Subhana kallahumma wa bihamdika ash-haduana la illaha illa ant astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk, Ameen.
