New Mini Dawah Booklet: The True Religion

I’ve been experimenting with a new format for Dawah literature and I have figured out how to work this new system. I call it Mini Dawah but it is more popularly known as Pocket Mods. These have been around for a while and have been a bit of secret for those who aren’t willing to spend money purchasing an electronic PDA. I personally do not like to use these for organizational purposes simply because they take too long to build on a daily basis. But, what I am interested in is there potential for Dawah.

Take a look at the picture below and realize that this was an 8-page booklet that I shrunk to 8 miniature-sized pages. Big difference! As small as it is, it is clear and easy to read.

This particular booklet is a revamp of The True Religion by Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips which I discussed a while back. I edited a few things but all in all, it’s virtually the same. The problem that I had encountered was that these booklets were difficult to get a hold of due to restrictions supposedly placed on Saudi Islamic work. Otherwise, these were very easy and free to get a hold of and I know of a few people who came to Islam from this work. See my previous post for more info on this. But essentially, we need a way to get a hold of full-sized booklets more easily and this is the solution I came up with.

The Advantages of Mini Dawah:

-Quick and easy to do

-Cute looking and has the attraction of being a novelty

-Saves paper and saves ink

-Easy to carry and easy to give out

The Disadvantages of Mini Dawah:

-Sometimes difficult to read for people with weak eyesight

-Different concept so some people may simply not like it–will garner a mixed reaction

Now here is how you make one of these.

Download the mini booklet here:

Print it off using the following printing settings shown in the picture below.

Once you’ve printed it off, follow the video below to finish it. You will need a scissor for this part.

WARNING: The video has some weird music.

If you do it right it should come out nice and neat. But otherwise, you can just snip away the parts that stick out.

I would love to hear some feedback on this because it’s an experiment that might work or might not. I plan on using this in the future for shorter, larger font Mini Dawah booklets that are easier on the eyes, Insha Allah.

Subhana kallahumma wa bihamdika ash-haduana la illaha illa ant astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk, Ameen.
