Palestine’s Next 50 years

Today is Palestine Blogging day so I thought I would share a little bit of my thoughts. Random tidbits to make you think. 🙂

First of all, Israel is an Islamic name and that is why I use it–so people think twice when they bad-mouth the name of one of the Prophets of Allah–Prophet Yaqoub (Jacob) AKA Israel alayhi salam.

I don’t like to talk about politics at all. And I used to be completely against the concept of the Jewish state but now I have taken a neutral view on this issue. Both sides are suffering but no doubt the Palestinians are suffering much much more. The reason I take a neutral view at it is because it has to be looked at realistically in terms of global politics and not in terms of one person’s wish.

Palestine has become a symbol not to different from Mandela or Gandhi in global society. It is only a matter of time until a face can be put to this all–a man or a woman who will be the voice of these people. When that happens–things will accelerate greatly for the Palestinian cause.

It is only a matter of time until the Jewish state disappears–not because of war or hatred, but because it simply is no longer feasible to have it survive as it was envisioned. The concept of a Jewish state is not something people disagree with–but the fact that we don’t know where they would go now is what causes all the trouble. Time is against the Jewish state because it’s surrounded by Muslims and Christian Arabs and the Palestinian population is growing. A one-state solution goes against the dream of Zionism. The Zionists want a state where Jews will be safe and be the dominant majority–as it is now, they get no safety but with a one-state solution they aren’t a majority so they are stuck in a dilemma.

The intense hatred that has been built up in the Muslim world is therefore detrimental to the Jewish people. Once the Jewish state is dissolved where will they go? Keep in mind, it was the Europeans who carried out the Holocaust and historically Muslims have been the ones who have stuck up and protected the Jewish people–even during the Holocaust we came to the rescue. Keeping that in mind, in the likely scenario that the state dissolves–and the Jews run to the Muslims for protection–how likely do you think they will be able to give it? I mean there’s all this hatred and animosity and it could result in something pretty ugly down the line.

There is a lot Muslims can learn in how to run a state by learning from the example of the Jewish state. One thing we can learn for sure is that a 100% Jewish or Muslim state is impossible–there will always be the “other” and they will need to be accommodated for. But more than that, we have to think of how to create a state with a sound vision and future.

And lastly, considering the fact the Jewish people are known to be among the best in the world–the smartest and the most talented, the “Chosen Race”–let’s say the same scenario happens that happened in WWII with the Americans recruiting the captured Nazi scientists to build them weapons. Now, it’s no secret that the Jewish state is very advanced–the best hospitals, the only nuclear superpower in the Middle East and some of the most advanced technology available. So, if a war breaks out and the Jewish state is defeated, the country that captures them will have a great deal to gain from all that knowledge. In fact, when I think on that fact, I think it’s more likely for the USA or another superpower will go after the Jewish state rather than a Muslim or Arab country, simply because we aren’t the most intelligent or brave lot.

I doubt this is what they had in mind with the whole blogging about Palestine but oh well! 🙂

Subhana kallahumma wa bihamdika ash-haduana la illaha illa ant astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk, Ameen.
