Bismillah
This is from a Facebook Event I started. See here and invite others as soon as possible!
Abu Qatadah reported that the Prophet of Allah salallahu alayhi wa salam said: “Fasting the Day of Arafah will be rewarded by Allah by forgiving one’s sins of the previous year and the following year.”
[Muslim]
Does this mean that we can fast on that day and for the rest of the year we can do whatever we want of bad deeds? No! It implies that Allah will help us to abstain from sins. And, if you commit a sin by mistake, He will cancel it due to His promise.
One of shaykhs of hadith commented that, because Allah promises to forgive your sins for one more year, he also promises that you will live one more year in order to fulfill that promise of forgiveness!
So fast on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah! Check your local areas for this blessed day is so you can fast it.
Subhana kallahumma wa bihamdika ash-haduana la illaha illa ant astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk, Ameen.
